چکیده

Introduction: This randomized, double-blind, prospective study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of magnesium sulphate in attenuating the stress responses associated with laparoscopic abdominal surgeries. Methods: 62 patients who underwent laparoscopic abdominal surgery were randomly divided in to two groups, group I and group II. 5 minutes after intubation but before creation of pneumoperitoneum, the magnesium group (group I) received magnesium sulphate 50 mg/kg diluted in normal saline to total volume of 20 ml at 240 ml/hour over 5 minutes. The control group (group II) received same amount of normal saline. Results: Heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure were significantly less in group I with p<0.05. Train of four had no statistical significance. Extubation time was more in Group I but had no statistical significance. Conclusion: magnesium sulphate attenuates hemodynamic stress response in laparoscopic abdominal surgeries.

Magnesium sulphate attenuates arterial pressure increase during laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

BACKGROUND Magnesium is well known to inhibit catecholamine release and attenuate vasopressin-stimulated vasoconstriction. We investigated whether i.v. magnesium sulphate attenuates the haemodynamic stress responses to pneumoperitoneum by changing neurohumoral responses during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. METHODS Thirty-two patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy were randomly assig...

بررسی اثر پیش‌داروی خوراکی کلونیدین بر روی پاسخ‌های همودینامیک حین اعمال لاپاروسکوپی زنان تحت بیهوشی عموم

Background & Aim: Clonidine, an alpha 2 agonist, attenuates sympathetic responses during general anesthesia and improves the intra-operative hemodynamic stability. In this randomized double blinded clinical trial study, we report the effects of 300µg oral clonidine premedication(n=22) or placebo(n=22) on hemodynamic alteration during gynecologic laparoscopic surgery, under general anesthesi...

Magnesium Can Decrease Postoperative Physiological Ileus and Postoperative Pain in Major non Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgeries: A Randomized Controlled Trial

BACKGROUND Magnesium is an antagonist of (N-methyl D-Aspartate) NMDA receptor and its related canals, and may affect perceived pain. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of intravenous magnesium on the hemodynamic parameters, analgesic consumption and ileus. PATIENTS AND METHODS A randomized, double blind, placebo controlled study was performed. Thirty two patients of...

Comparative Study of Intravenous Infusion of Clonidine And/or Magnesium Sulphate on Haemodynamic Stress Response to Tracheal Intubation and Pneumoperitoneum during Laproscopic Surgery

Introduction: Laryngotracheal intubation and co2 pneumoperitoneum in laproscopic surgery is associated with significant stress response. In this prospective, randomized study, we investigated the efficacy of magnesium sulfate and clonidine to prevent adverse hemodynamic stress response. Methodology: 60 patients of either sex (18-60yrs) undergoing elective laproscopy surgery were randomly divide...

The Effect of a Single Dose of Magnesium Sulphate as an Adjuvant to Epidural Bupivacaine for Infraumbilical Surgeries: a Prospective Double-blind, Randomized Control Trial.

CONTEXT Epidural anesthesia provides the advantage of segmental blockade and many adjuvants have been added to shorten the onset of action, improve the quality of analgesia and prolong the duration of analgesia. Magnesium sulphate(MgSO4) by virtue of its anti-iociceptive property has been administered by various routes. AIM To assess the effect of MgSO4 on the duration of onset of action of i...
